Create Catalog via UI

Hi ! I started using Databricks one month ago. I have a question.
When I try to create a catalog, I can do it using SQL, but I can't find the "Create Catalog" option in the UI.
Do you know what might be causing this?

I read the following document, but it didn’t solve the issue. I set up Databricks by myself and I am the owner.

Do you see metastore when you click on manage(setting wheel icon)? If yes, select the metastore and you should be able to create catalog from UI, if no, you have to assign a catalog metastore to this workspace from databricks accounts portal

Hey! I totally get what you're experiencing, as I ran into the same issue. It looks like Databricks has updated their UI a bit. Previously, the "Create Catalog" option was under the settings wheel icon when accessing the catalog in Databricks workspaces. Now, it seems they've moved it to the "Add Data" section.

Just a heads up, make sure you have the appropriate privileges—either being a metastore admin or having the CREATE CATALOG permission—otherwise, you won’t see the option.

Thank you for your help! Yes, the metastore was already set up and visible from the settings wheel icon. I didn’t change anything, but after about a day, the "Create Catalog" option appeared in the UI. I guess it just took some time to reflect. Really appreciate your clear guidance!

Thank you for sharing your experience! I didn’t know that “Create Catalog” is available under “Add Data.” I appreciate your screenshot.

I have set the appropriate permissions and hadn’t made any changes, but after about a day, the option appeared in the UI. I couldn’t confirm how it was yesterday, but now “Create Catalog” is also showing under “Add Data.”
