topic Refresh permission on Lakeview Dashboard in Administration & Architecture

Hi folks!

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but our users have the tendency to click the big Refresh button on all dashboards every time they open them.

Using resources efficiently is something I value deeply, so our team came up with a schedule policy - Hourly dashboards are refreshed hourly during the work hours, D-1 dashboards are refreshed every morning and so on.

The problem is, every time a user opens a Dashboard, the temptation to click on the Refresh button takes over them, and they do.

I've checked the ACLs for the Lakeview here dashboards and saw that CAN VIEW/CAN RUN give the user permission to Refresh the dashboard.

Is there any way to prevent users from being able to Refresh the dashboards? Someone mentioned scheduling the dashboards via email to the users, but the experience is not the same.

At the end of the day, I don't want to spend money on cluster resources for user behavior I can't prevent, so having the ability to block this would be DEEPLY appreciated.

Hi @leo-machado this is a very reasonable request. It's not feasible right now, but I'll pass it on to the product team as I'm sure you're not the only one.

Hi @holly!

It's been a while, but I see that the ACL behavior is still the same - do you know if this is being considered as a feature?

I had to build a custom chrome extension to force remove the refresh button and made our IT team roll it out to users, so we would decrease our usage a bit
