Asset Bundle on Free Edition

I am trying to use Databricks Asset Bundles in the workspace in my Free Edition account. I can deploy the bundle from my own computer, but I want to use the feature within Databricks. I am able to clone an empty repo to a Git folder and create the bundle, but when I attempt to deploy the bundle, I get the error,

Error: error downloading Terraform: Get "https://releases.hashicorp.com/terraform/1.5.5/index.json": GET https://releases.hashicorp.com/terraform/1.5.5/index.json giving up after 5 attempt(s): Get "https://releases.hashicorp.com/terraform/1.5.5/index.json": dial tcp: lookup releases.hashicorp.com on 192.168.200.5:53: server misbehaving

I cannot figure out a way to download Terraform on the Serverless compute. Any help is appreciated.

Hi @daboncanplay,

Databricks Asset Bundles rely on Terraform under the hood to manage the Databricks resources the bundle defines. It automatically downloads the binaries it needs. If it can't, you'll get an error like the one you see.
This looks like connectivity issue. Maybe there was a temporary issue with hashicorp.releases site?
Another possibility is that Databricks Free edition has outbound internet access restricted to a limited set of trusted domains. I’d be surprised if they didn’t add HashiCorp to the trusted domains, but that might be the case.

Thanks for your concern, Khaja 🙂 I feel like I manage my time quite well, so I don't see helping others as something that negatively affects my mental well-being. But I need to ask my wife for second opinion 😄
