We are building a production support agent that requires seamless integration between:

Genie spaces (for analytics queries)
Vector search
Custom tools

The MCP protocol provides a standardized interface for this multi-tool architecture.

i am using free trial databricks.Whether MCP server support for Genie is available in our workspace/region for this free version.

Hi @Anvy,

This depends on whether you are on a standard Databricks workspace or on Databricks Free Edition. The public docs show that Databricks managed MCP servers are currently in Public Preview, and the managed Genie MCP server itself is still listed as Beta.

So if the question is about a normal paid or trial workspace, I would say Genie MCP support is generally available, subject to the workspace having the relevant preview features enabled. The public MCP docs also note that available MCP servers can be viewed under workspace > AI Gateway > MCPs, which is the easiest place to confirm whether it is exposed in that workspace.

If your question is specifically about Databricks Free Edition, please note that Free Edition is a separate learning-focused environment with its own documented limitations, and based on current product guidance, I would not expect preview-gated managed MCP features like Genie MCP to be generally available there today.
