AnalysisException: [RequestId=... ErrorClass=INVALID_PARAMETER_VALUE] Missing cloud file system scheme

Hi community,

i get an analysis exception when executing following code in a notebook using a personal compute cluster. Seems to be an issue with permission but I am logged in with my admin account. Any help would be appreciated.

USE CATALOG catalog;
USE SCHEMA db;

DROP TABLE IF EXISTS CUSTOM_LOGGING;
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS CUSTOM_LOGGING
USING TEXT
OPTIONS(path '/FileStore/logs/*',header=true)

When I comment out both USE statements and Detach&re-attach the cluster and run it, I get no error.

I was having the same issue because I was trying to set the location with the absolute path, just like you did.

I solved it by creating an external location, then copying the URL and putting it into the location of the path options.

@Hasan Cetinkaya :

It seems like there may be a permission issue with the USE CATALOG and USE SCHEMA statements in your code. This suggests that the user account that you are using to run the code may not have sufficient privileges to access the specified catalog and schema.

To resolve this issue, you may need to check the permissions of your user account and ensure that it has been granted the necessary privileges to access the catalog and schema.

If you could try running the code without the USE CATALOG and USE SCHEMA statements, as you mentioned in your question. In this case, the table will be created in the default schema for your user account, which should not require any additional permissions.

If you still encounter issues, you may want to contact the Databricks support team for further assistance.
