Unable to link/assign a unity catalog metastore to a workspace

Guilherme_Jorda

We are following these instructions to link/assign a unity catalog metastore to a workspace using the UI.

When we apply the option to enable the unity metastore in the workspace configuration, after hitting "Update", the option gets disabled. When we refresh the page, it is not enabled anymore.

The unity catalog metastore is set up correctly, and the workspace too, what does not seem to be working is the "linking" process. We believe it could be related to the last updates.

Hi, Could you please post two screenshots of before and after the option gets disabled?

Also, please tag @Debayan with your next update which will notify me.

@Guilherme Jordan :

If the option to enable the Unity Catalog metastore in the workspace configuration is getting disabled after hitting "Update", it could be a sign of an issue with the workspace or the Unity Catalog metastore.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check the logs: Check the logs in the Databricks workspace to see if there are any error messages related to the Unity Catalog metastore. You can access the logs by going to the "Admin Console" -> "Logs" section of the Databricks workspace UI.
  2. Verify permissions: Make sure that the user who is trying to link the Unity Catalog metastore to the workspace has the necessary permissions. They should have the "Admin" role in the workspace and the necessary permissions to access the Unity Catalog metastore.
  3. Check connectivity: Verify that the Unity Catalog metastore is accessible from the Databricks workspace. You can do this by trying to connect to the metastore using a tool like beeline
  4. Check version compatibility: Make sure that the version of Databricks and the version of the Unity Catalog metastore are compatible. You can check the version compatibility in the Databricks documentation.

If you have gone through these steps and are still unable to link the Unity Catalog metastore to the workspace, please let me know.
