Access to Lakehouse Real-Time (RT) in the preview tab

Hi Databricks team,

we are currently doing an performance-centric assessment of Databricks and it would be great if we could also try the beta feature Lakehouse RT but this is not yet listed under the preview features.

Is there any chance to get access to try it out or is there any official timeline when preview access will become available?

Thanks in advance for any details.

Hi @daniel_benchANT,

Lakehouse//RT is currently in Beta, and it's gated, which is why you are not seeing it listed on the Previews page in your workspace yet. The feature only appears there after your Databricks account team has enabled it for your specific account. Once they do, you'll find it under Previews by searching for "Lakehouse RT," and after enabling it, a new "Real-Time" warehouse type shows up in the SQL warehouse creation flow.

To get access, reach out to your Databricks account team directly. They'll walk you through the qualification process and can enable your workspace. The typical prerequisites are that your data is already in Databricks (managed Delta or Iceberg tables in Unity Catalog), your target workload is read-only, and your queries already complete in a few seconds on a Serverless SQL warehouse. If those boxes are checked, you are a strong candidate for the preview.

For context on what Lakehouse//RT delivers, the launch blog covers the core value prop... sub-second latency at high concurrency on your existing lakehouse data, with no data movement and no separate system to manage. The public docs for AWS and Azure walk through setup, sizing, and current limitations once you have access.

Please contact your account team and let them know you'd like to try Lakehouse//RT as part of your performance assessment. They can get the ball rolling quickly.

Hi @daniel_benchANT ,

Lakehouse//RT is currently in Beta. For many workspaces, admins can enable it directly by going to the workspace menu (top-right) -> Previews, searching for Lakehouse RT, and toggling it on.

However, since you mentioned it is not showing up in your Previews list, this is completely normal. Depending on your workspace tier (e.g., Enterprise accounts), Beta features are often disabled or hidden by default.

Databricks documentation

To get it enabled for your performance assessment, the fastest route is to reach out directly to your Databricks Account Team (your Account Executive or Solutions Architect) rather than raising a standard support ticket. They can have the feature whitelisted for your specific workspace.

Databricks hasn't announced a firm public timeline for General Availability just yet, so connecting with your account team is definitely the best way to get hands-on right now.

Hope the assessment goes wellโ€”it's a great feature to test!

FYI, I did the feature test while ago, it's really impressive.
