Power BI - Azure Databricks Connector shows Error AAD is not setup for domain

Hi Team,

What I would like to do is understand what is required for PowerBI gateway to use single sign-on (AAD) to Databricks. Is that something you could have encountered before and know the fix? I currently get message from Power BI that AAD is not set up for Domain : โ€œdatabricks urlโ€

Any fix?

Hi @laeforceable ,

To use Azure Active Directory (AAD) single sign-on (SSO) with Power BI Gateway for Databricks, you will need to set up AAD authentication for both Databricks and Power BI Gateway and configure SSO between the two services.

Here are the steps to configure AAD SSO for Power BI Gateway with Databricks:

  1. Set up AAD authentication for Databricks: To set up AAD authentication for Databricks, you can follow the instructions provided in the Databricks documentation: Azure Active Directory.

  2. Set up AAD authentication for Power BI Gateway: To set up AAD authentication for Power BI Gateway, you can follow the instructions provided in the Microsoft documentation: Set up Azure Active Directory authentication for the Power BI Gateway.

  3. Configure SSO between Databricks and Power BI Gateway: To configure SSO between Databricks and Power BI Gateway, you can follow the instructions provided in the Power BI documentation: Configure single sign-on (SSO) for the on-premises data gateway.

Note that in order to use AAD authentication with Power BI Gateway, you will need to configure a custom domain for your Databricks workspace and add the custom domain to the AAD tenant. Once AAD authentication is set up for both Databricks and Power BI Gateway, you should be able to use AAD SSO to access your Databricks data in Power BI.
