Deployment of tables and views in unity catalog and Repo structuring for catalogs objects.

we want to create the CI/CD Pipeline for deploying Unity catalog objects inorder to enhance the deployment ability.
but How to maintain a repository of Tables/views/ or any other objects created in the catalogs and schema.

Is this possible to do just like we do deploy notebooks using Git/Version control through CI/CD? or any other solution available, please suggest on this.

Thanks in advance.

As of now, DAB doesn't have native support for "database change management".

One way to solve it is e.g. running a job through DAB in your CD pipeline, which executes your DDL statements.

Hi @Witold

Thanks for the response!!

Can we deploy one catalog metadata to another catalog using CICD?

Instead of CICD do we have any other options to deploy catalog metadata to another catalog?

Hey! By catalog metadata, I assume you mean your database objects, like tables or views, right?

You can still use DAB for that. In DAB you can define variables, and in your case the catalog name could be one. That way you can deploy these objects to any catalog you like.

Instead of CD pipelines you can create objects during your data pipeline runs. You have to decide for yourself whether this is a better approach.
