Learning via Free Trial Azure

Hi I am following a Databricks course on Udemy and the course instructed to access Databricks via the free trial of Azure. Once I created my account on Azure and load Databricks, I try to create a cluster but this never succeeds. It takes an extremely long time to process and ends up in an error message. Is there a particular configuration for a cluster that will guarantee success?

Hi @clock4eva

Azure Free Trial Limitations

The Azure free trial has the following key limitations that may be causing the cluster creation issues:

  • Resource Quota: The free trial has a limited quota of resources like CPU, memory, storage etc. This quota may be exhausted quickly, causing cluster creation failures.
  • Subscription Expiration: The free trial is only valid for 30 days. Once the trial expires, you will no longer be able to create new resources like Databricks clusters.
  • Databricks Pricing Tier: The free trial only supports the "Community" pricing tier for Databricks, which has fewer resources available compared to the "Standard" or "Premium" tiers.

I think @Kaniz_Fatma is on point with resource quota.

Azure free trial/Student/Pass subscription has a limit of 4 cores, and you cannot create Databricks cluster multi node using a Free Subscription because it requires more than 8 cores.

So try to create single node cluster and not to exceed limit of 4 cores
