Recover Lost Notebook

praful
New Contributor

Hi Team, I was using Databricks community edition for learning purpose. I had an account https://community.cloud.databricks.com/?o=6822095545287159 where I stored all my learning notebooks. Unfortunately, this account suddenly stopped working, and I can no longer log in. As a result, I have lost access to all my notebooks.

Is there a way to recover the notebooks from this account?

I have since created a new Community Edition account with the same email, but none of my old notebooks are available in the new account. Here are the links to both accounts for reference:

This is my old account - https://community.cloud.databricks.com/?o=6822095545287159

Hi @praful

  • Deleted notebooks in Databricks are moved to the user's Trash folder and stored there for 30 days before being permanently deleted.
  • To recover a deleted notebook, log into Databricks, go to the Workspace, select Users, then your user folder, and finally, the Trash folder.
  • From there, you can drag and drop the notebook you want to restore to your user folder.

To avoid losing notebooks in the future, Databricks recommends regularly backing up your notebooks using options like:

  • Git integration with Databricks Repos
  • Azure DevOps Services version control
  • Bitbucket Cloud and Bitbucket Server version control

I hope these suggestions help you recover your lost notebooks.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
