Do you have a more precise date for this release now? In the process of downgrading a project from 2.13 to 2.12 just so I can introduce databricks connect.

Looks like 16.3 beta has been released with Scala 2.12.15. When has Scala 2.13 been pushed back to?

Any way to make it happen sooner? Some of Scala and Java libraries do not work with Scala 2.12 anymore, b/c it's so old. Spark has been available for Scala 2.13 for a long time. It's very disappointing that it takes so long for DB to offer Scala 2.13, specially since Scala has moved to version 3+ long time ago. Thx

As per the information from the product team, this was a decision make to accommodate it also with the release of Spark 4. The release timeline is not a full decision it might change but as of now it has been selected to be by the timeframe proposed

Hi everyone,

I saw that Scala 2.13 is expected to be available with Databricks Runtime 16.3 LTS, with a tentative GA release in early March 2025. Can someone from Databricks confirm if this timeline is still on track?

Any updates on potential preview availability would also be helpful.

Thanks!

The date keeps moving forward, I wouldn't get your hopes up on 2.13. 😰

Spark 4 is coming and it's only going to support Scala 2.13, so a Databricks Runtime with Spark 3.5.x and Scala 2.13 should be released soonish.
