I created a new databricks Trial account last night, I only got $4.00 in credit. Not sure why that happened.
I uploaded a very small dataset, 3 files (total 9KB) to the "Serverless Starter Warehouse". Did three queries to check the data and three hours later I was informed my trial credits were consumed and that my trial period was over.
So this morning I added my credit card information, upgraded the account to a premium account. I am unable to add/delete/edit any compute resources. I keep getting a notice that I am unable to do any of this while in a "trial" period.
I have verified that my account is now a paid premium account in account settings. I have deleted the original workspace and created a new one. All to no avail. So my instance is essentially worthless to me this morning.

I went ahead and just tied the instance to my cloud provider, and am running as expected. Could be an issue with my understanding the Databricks "serverless" offerings/functionality. No matter though.
Still, disappointed that the "trial" was actually $4 not the $400 I was told to expect, allowing only 3 basic select queries on a 9KB dataset. Was hoping to get a low-risk free peek at the serverless options before having to go back to provisioning my own compute.

Hi @dcbauer Trial amount is decided based on your org and email id and it can be between $1 to $400
It's to prevent the misuse of trial account

I gathered as much. But that still doesnโt explain why I got $4. I have never had a free trial account before at Databricks. Nor has my org.

Thanks for the clarification. Additionally, in the trial version, we do not have to spin-up the AWS cluster - it is preloaded - is my understanding correct?
