Has anyone here signed up for and used the Databricks Academy Labs?
Is it worth it for preparing for the Data Engineer Professional exam?

I have the labs subscription through a client. Now, is it worth it? It depends...

Do you work in an enterprise (AWS) or premium (Azure) environment daily? This gives you access to all the features and you can learn by doing real world projects.
- If the answer is no, the labs help with this experience.
Are you only learning through the self paced modules and can only use the Community free edition?
- If the answer is yes, the labs will help with this.

The labs give you a virtual lab with all the notebooks/code etc... that you can run yourself. You can type the code, try things in an enterprise environment. If you are studying for the Data Professional certification, this access and experience is helpful. If just going for the Associate, you can get by without it. Although I've taken/passed that cert back in July and have not seen the new Associate exam. I hope this information helps. The labs are like the self paced modules, but the labs experience is added (have more modules to launch and explain the lab). Otherwise, the modules are the same. I know most people do not like to pay for things, but if you are serious about being a Databricks engineer/analyst/ml and do not have experience, then the labs will help in that area. I have the labs subscription but only use it rarely because I have real projects and access to an actual environment daily.
