Certification Exam Suspended Due to Camera Framing – Requesting Guidance on Next Steps

Hello Databricks Certification Team,

I am looking for some guidance regarding my Databricks Data Engineer Associate certification exam, which was suspended today during the online proctored session.

During the exam, the proctor reminded me twice to keep my face fully visible in the webcam. After each reminder, I immediately adjusted my position. However, while sitting for a long exam, I may have naturally shifted slightly in my chair, causing a small portion of my face to move out of the camera frame.

At no point did I leave my seat, use another device, access unauthorized materials, communicate with anyone, or engage in any activity that could compromise the integrity of the exam. My sole focus was completing the exam in accordance with the testing rules.

I have already submitted a support request and respectfully requested that the session recording be reviewed.

I wanted to ask:

What is the typical turnaround time for a review?
If the review determines there was no misconduct, is it possible to receive a complimentary reschedule or resume the exam?
Has anyone experienced a similar situation, and what was the outcome?

I have spent a significant amount of time preparing for this certification and would sincerely appreciate a fair review of my exam session.

I have not received the certificate yet, even though I have received a confirmation of passing the exam on email with section wise scores.

I tried retrieving the certificate from Accredible, but its not showing there fr

I completed all 4 required courses for the recent Learning Festival campaign (June 15 – July 6, 2026):

- DevOps Essentials for Data Engineering

- Build Data Pipelines with Lakeflow Spark Declarative Pipelines

- Deploy Workloads with Lakeflow Jobs

- Data Ingestion with Lakeflow Connect

All four show "Completed" in My Activities, though the 4th course

(Data Ingestion with Lakeflow Connect) shows "Course is under

maintenance" — not sure if that's affecting eligibility.

I have not received the 50% discount voucher email. I've checked

Re: Foreign Catalog Table - Missing Most Rows

Hi @jruhl,

When you say it's only returning 100 rows, how are you accessing the data? Are you previewing the data or querying it?

You may want to first confirm whether you are hitting an actual federation limit, or whether you are just seeing a small result set due to how the table is being queried or previewed.

Can you...

Run SELECT COUNT(*) against the foreign table to confirm whether Databricks can see the full row count.
Run SELECT * ... LIMIT 1000 and compare that with whatever path is only showing 100 rows.
Run EXPLAIN on the query to see whether a LIMIT is being pushed down unexpectedly.

For Snowflake foreign catalogs, Databricks supports two access paths... query federation and catalog federation. Query federation pushes the query down to Snowflake over JDBC, while catalog federation reads eligible Snowflake-managed Iceberg tables directly from object storage.

If this is a Snowflake foreign catalog specifically, you can also check the path the table is actually using. In Databricks, Snowflake foreign tables that are read through catalog federation show up as Iceberg source format, while tables read through query federation show up as Snowflake source format. That distinction matters because catalog federation can fall back to JDBC if the table does not meet the direct-access requirements.

If the table is supposed to use catalog federation, I would verify the foreign catalog configuration as well. Databricks documents that Snowflake catalog federation depends on correctly configured authorized paths, and the foreign catalog cannot query tables outside those paths. The same doc also notes that some Snowflake Iceberg tables fall back to query federation if they have incompatible locations, unsupported schemes, or metadata layout issues.

I would also confirm that the Snowflake role used by the connection has the required privileges. Databricks calls out USAGE on the database and schema plus SELECT on the relevant tables as required, and missing Snowflake grants are a common cause of incomplete or missing objects in the federated catalog.

If metadata might be stale, try refreshing the foreign object metadata as documented here: REFRESH FOREIGN. Databricks also notes that refreshing foreign Snowflake tables can be necessary after data or metadata changes in the source system.

I'm seeking your help as my previous support tickets were closed with a generic response stating that Respondus detected "malware used to allow remote access," but no details or evidence were provided about what was actually detected.

Without this information, I cannot identify or fix the issue, and I'm disappointed that my first exam attempt was suspended without being given an opportunity to retake it, despite the significant certification fee.

I respectfully request that my case be reviewed and escalated, and that I be considered for a complimentary retake. I hope Databricks can provide greater transparency and help resolve this recurring concern for certification candidates.

Summary:

Yes — result retrieval is tied to the query’s credential/delegation model. Your 404/500 messages point to missing or unresolved permission delegation for those stored results, not missing CAN MANAGE on the space. If you need a monitoring service principal to read results consistently, the safest pattern is to run the Genie/API workload under a shared service-principal identity rather than per-end-user delegated credentials.
Genie Chat Sharing matters. When enabled, and when a conversation is set to Reviewable by space managers, users with CAN MANAGE can review the full conversation/results; if the conversation is Private, managers can see prompts but not results. Existing conversations created before the feature was enabled stay Private; new ones default to Reviewable by space managers after enablement.
The 500 DATA_LOSS / “permission delegation name” looks like a backend issue or mis-propagated sharing/delegation state. The wording matches internal delegation plumbing, where the delegation name must be persisted and later assumed; if it is missing, retrieval can fail exactly this way.

Recommendation:

Turn on Workspace Admin → Previews → Genie Chat Sharing.
Ensure the conversations you want monitored are Reviewable by space managers (or All account users), not Private.
For reliable machine monitoring, prefer a shared SP-run integration that creates/reads the conversations itself.
For the failing 500/404 cases, open a support/engineering ticket with the request_ids — this likely needs server-side investigation of missing delegation metadata.

Most likely root cause in your case: those conversations/results were created without a retrievable delegation context for the monitoring SP. Enabling Chat Sharing helps manager visibility, but if the stored delegation metadata is missing, you’ll still need a backend fix for those affected conversations.

Re: Zerobus ingestion fails in Databricks

Use a Databricks OAuth token for Zerobus, not a PAT or a federated/token-exchange token. The Java SDK docs now use client_id + client_secret, and Zerobus requires a token scoped to api://databricks/workspaces/<workspace_id>/zerobusDirectWriteApi with authorization_details for the table privileges.

Your specific 401: invalid_authorization_details ... User is not authorized to the requested authorizations usually means one of these:

You are using the wrong token type
Zerobus only supports the Databricks OAuth flow here; federated token exchange / workspace token paths are known to fail for Zerobus with this exact error pattern.
The SDK token input is wrong for your SDK version
Older/internal docs showed PATs, but current Java SDK usage is .oauth(clientId, clientSecret) rather than passing a PAT as uc_token.
Privileges must be explicitly granted exactly as below
ALL_PRIVILEGES does not work for Zerobus; explicit USE CATALOG, USE SCHEMA, SELECT, and MODIFY are required.

What to do

Use the Java SDK like this pattern:

If this fails, the issue is auth/permissions; if it succeeds, the problem is in app config.

Most likely fix: switch from PAT / exchanged SP token to Databricks OAuth M2M with the SP’s client_id and client_secret in the Java SDK.
