Request to Merge Two Databricks Community Accounts

Hello Databricks Community Support,

I currently have two Databricks Practitioner Community accounts registered under different email addresses and would like to consolidate them into one account.

Account A: Personal email

I would like this account to remain as my primary/surviving Community account.

Account B: Company email

Account B contains a sizeable amount of my existing Community activity, including posts, replies, kudos, badges and other profile history.

I would like to request that Account B be merged into Account A, with as much of the Community history, reputation, badges, posts and other activity as possible retained under Account A.

The reason for the migration is that Account B uses my employer-provided email address, and I would like my long-term Databricks Community identity to be associated with my personal email so that I do not lose access if my employment account changes in the future.

I also currently use Account A's email address for my Databricks Free Edition account/workspace. My request is specifically for the Databricks Practitioner Community accounts, and I do not want any changes made to my Free Edition workspace or platform account.

Could you please confirm:

Whether the two Community accounts can be merged
Whether the posts, replies, kudos, badges, rank and other Community history from Account B can be retained under Account A
Whether there is anything else you need from me to verify ownership of both accounts

Reducing Time to Help in the Databricks Community

I wanted to share one idea for the Databricks Community. Can we explore a Genie-like experience for databricks community?

The Community already has many useful answers, accepted solutions, blogs, MVP articles, and discussions. But sometimes members may not find the right answer quickly. They may not know the exact keywords to search, or they may post a new question even when a similar answer already exists.

A Genie-like community assistant can help members find the most relevant answers faster.

For example, if someone asks about Unity Catalog permissions, Delta tables, PySpark errors, Auto Loader, Databricks SQL, Lakeflow, MLflow, or any Databricks feature, the assistant can search the Community content and suggest the best matching answers, accepted solutions, related articles, and documentation links.

This can help in many ways:

It can reduce duplicate questions.

It can reduce the time community members spend answering repeated questions.

It can help users get support faster.

It can make existing accepted solutions easier to find.

It can guide users to ask better questions with the right title, tags, error message, code snippet, and context.

In my view, this should not replace community discussions. It should support them.

The assistant can first suggest matching answers. If the user still needs help, it can guide them to post a better question with all the needed details.

The goal is simple: help every member reach the right answer faster and make the Community knowledge base more useful over time.

I am happy to ideate more and share inputs from a user and contributor perspective, including possible workflows, use cases, and POC ideas.

Would this be something the Community team can explore?

What does 50% even mean?

I posted a topic on Friday, and I think since it was right before the weekend my post may have been buried. Normally what would be the best way to bring attention to a post that hasn't been reviewed yet?

Passkey lockout

Hi there,

I am locked out of my account - https://community.databricks.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/99755 - due to adding a passkey improperly.

The reset passkey doesnt work and I submitted a request 00859868 but the service rep is saying they cannot find my email address. Can someone help me clear this passkey issue? I was trying to update my email address to a personal one, because I recently volunteered to organize a usergroup and wanted to get the notifications away from my work email. The user group is https://usergroups.databricks.com/queens-new-york-databricks-user-group/

Databricks Community - Can't post images and other quality degradations

Hi there, has anyone noticed recent (at least as of last week but possibly longer) changes to Databricks Community posts? Here are some very limited examples of what I've noticed:

Can't paste images anymore (am trying to paste here but shows as blank)
Inconsistent formatting. Almost feels like I'm dealing with quirky Word/SharePoint/HTML formatting issues
- Bullet points sometimes inconsistent
- Tabs sometimes inconsistent

Scroll bar for Tags

Hi there,

I noticed in the data engineering forum there's a list of Labels on the sidebar, but it does not appear to have a scrollbar - is this the full list of Labels and that's why it doesn't scroll? Or, is this possibly a bug?

The reason I was trying scroll was because I wanted to search for "Asset Bundles" or "DAB" and noticed there was no way to scroll.

merge of 2 databricks community accounts

Hi everyone,
I currently have two accounts: a personal account where I hold the MVP badge, and a company account that I’ve actively used to contribute here.
I tried updating the bianca_unifeye account to use my personal email address, but the system indicates that an account already exists with that email and advises me to contact the system administrator.
Is there a way to merge these two accounts without losing the MVP status on my personal account? I’d like to be able to post unnder the MVP articles section while also retaining my contributor rank and contribution history.

I sent email to support email, no response from them.

Numpy performance on different clusters

I've been running some performance tests with Databricks, but I am struggling to make sense of the results.

def g(a, b): N = 1000 t1 = time.time() for _ in range(N): a**5 + 2 * b t2 = time.time() return (t2 - t1) / N a = np.random.rand(2**24) b = np.random.rand(2**24)

Evaluating g(a, b) returns around 0.15 on a modest "Standard_D8ds_v5" cluster with 8 cores on the driver, while it return around 0.61 on a powerful "Standard_E32_v3" with 32 cores on the driver. In other words, the same calculation takes around 4 times longer on the powerful cluster.

Considering that Numpy uses BLAS, which is supposed to bypass Python's GIL lock, I am struggling to find an explanation for what I am seeing.

Can somebody makes sense of this and suggest a way to improve the performance on the powerful cluster?

PS I am aware that I could distribute the work in the loop of my function over multiple workers, using a tool like Ray Clusters, but that is not what I am after here.

Incorrectly blocking posts on Databricks Community containing specific words

Hi,

I keep finding myself being blocked from posting if certain words are used: For instance,

-> F_r_u_i_t -> G_a_m_e

I'm slightly concerned that the existing list of blocked words probably hasn't been reviewed? It's not scalable to submit every word that is blocked and get it added to an exceptions list.

Can a community moderator (or appropriate person) review the list of blocked words please.
