Hi All,

2 weeks ago I was able to attend the DAIS and I became greatly inspired by the different high-quality sessions/content that I was able to follow. Now, I want to be able to also share this inspiration with others in my daily practice and the ideal way to do this would be via the slidedecks of the different sessions.

Therefore I was wondering: is there a general way in which we can request access to slidedecks of sessions that were presented at the DAIS? I see that for most of the sessions recordings are available, however it would be useful if we could have the slidedeck content instead.

The Legos ran out.
The hugs didn't.

Day 3 was a quieter kind of day - keynotes wrapped yesterday, so today belonged to the breakouts. The booth saw slow trickles instead of waves. We ran out of Legos an hour before close. We finally walked the Expo. We hung out with puppies. And honestly? We're a little exhausted and a lot proud.

Mandy Ross on the last morning of DAIS 2026. That basically sums up Day 3.

The pace

A different kind of busy.

With keynotes done, Day 3 was all breakouts, people in sessions for long stretches, then short bursts at the booth. Slower than yesterday, but in some ways better: the conversations went deeper. Less drive-by, more “tell me more about this”. The kind of last-day energy where everyone has finally figured out where to be.

🧱 Sold out

An hour before close, the last Lego walked out the door.

The limited-edition Databricks Community Lego sets went the distance. Today's trickle still came specifically for them, and then, about an hour before the booth closed, the box was empty. Thank you for grabbing one. Please put it somewhere your kids (or your desk neighbors) can stare at it.

🚪 Off the booth

We finally walked the Expo Hall.

For three days we'd been in the Community Booth. Today we slipped over to the Expo, and wow. It is huge. A really impressive set of vendors, a packed floor, and an unmistakable sense of how big this whole ecosystem has become. Made us genuinely proud to be Bricksters.

🐶 The wellness detour

Sit. Stay. Analyze.

There was a wellness puppy area. Two litters. Impossibly cute, totally adoptable. We may have spent more time here than we'd like to admit on a workday. No notes. Best decision of Day 3.

🙌 In the trenches

Community Team for Day 3.

Day 2 had its crew. Day 3 had its own. A massive shout-out to Thursday's volunteers - who showed up for the final day, when the floor was quieter, the lines shorter, but the booth still had to feel like home for every last person who walked up. They kept showing up. That's the whole thing.

They greeted, registered, walked people through Community, handed out the last Lego sets, and ran the booth right up to close. The team you remember by name, and recognize anywhere.

The booth got louder.
Literally.

Day 2 was when Day 1 turned all the way up. More attendees. More conversations. A megaphone. Limited-edition Legos flying off the booth. And volunteers jumping in like they were always going to. Here's how it went down.

📢 The escalator moment

When Mandy grabbed the megaphone.

At one point on Day 2, Mandy Ross looked at the escalator, looked at the megaphone toy on the booth, and just… ran with it. Suddenly there was a friendly voice calling out at every person stepping off the escalator: “Come to Community!” And honestly? It worked. The booth got busier almost immediately. New folks. Old friends. Curious passers-by. Everyone.

What a day.

The doors opened, and the Community booth was packed from minute one. Day 1 of DAIS 2026 brought hundreds of new faces, old friends, instructors, champions, and the kind of energy that reminds us why we do this. Here's the recap.

My Day 2 at Data + AI Summit 2026

Day 2 at Data + AI Summit 2026 was unforgettable. From mind-blowing product announcements to a moment at the Community Booth I will never forget, here is how my day unfolded.

The Keynote: Ali Ghodsi Sets the Vision

The day started with the keynote from Ali Ghodsi, and the energy in the room was electric. Ali framed the future of Data + AI around four priorities that stuck with me: Context, Cost, Control, and Choice. It was a simple but powerful way to think about where the industry is heading.

The product announcements were genuinely mind-blowing.

Ali introduced LTAP, Lake Transaction and Analytical Processing, bringing transactional and analytical workloads together in the lakehouse. He announced Reyden, described as the world's fastest engine. And the Genie announcements were remarkable: Genie Ontology that continuously learns enterprise context, and Genie One, a smart AI coworker that understands your data.

There was also a strong focus on Lakebase, real-time lakehouse capabilities, and the Customer Lake. What struck me most was how much the entire vision centered on context. As someone who recently built an interactive experience on exactly this theme, hearing Ali emphasize context as the number one priority was incredibly validating. AI does not just need to be smarter. It needs to understand the enterprise context around it.

A Moment I Will Never Forget at the Community Booth

After the keynote, I walked over to the Databricks Community Booth in Moscone South 2nd floor. The Community Champion showcase was running on the display, rotating through the profiles of Champions from around the world. I stood there checking to see if my name would come up.

Then something happened that genuinely surprised me. @MandyR walked up to me and said, "Are you checking for your name, Brahma?"

I was amazed. She recognized me without ever having met me in person before. We had a wonderful conversation about the Summit and the future of Data + AI solutions. Moments like this are what make this community so special. The people behind it genuinely know and care about the contributors.

Meeting Andrew Snare

At the Community Booth, I also met Andrew Snare. We had a great exchange about Data + AI, and I walked him through my Grocery Data Intelligence app, the architecture, and the use case. He said it was really impressive and a strong use case for retail. Getting that kind of feedback from a Databricks team member in person meant a lot.

A Surprise at the Free Edition Booth

Then came the highlight of my entire Summit experience.

I went to the Expo to introduce my GDI solution, and I was stunned to discover that the Databricks Free Edition team was using my app to show booth visitors the capabilities of Free Edition. They were demonstrating my Grocery Data Intelligence app to attendees to illustrate how Free Edition can build production-grade Data + AI applications.

I captured a video during their explanation. Seeing my own app being used by Databricks to showcase what is possible with their platform was a moment I will never forget. It started as a side project I shared on Reddit. Now it was on the floor of Data + AI Summit, helping others understand what they can build.

Meeting Viktoria Semaan

I also had the privilege of meeting Viktoria Semaan, Principal AI Evangelist at Databricks. We exchanged thoughts on the Data + AI space, adoption, Free Edition capabilities, and the product line. Her perspective on how AI is being adopted across enterprises was fascinating, and I appreciated her taking the time to connect.

Meeting Zach Wilson

I also met Zach Wilson, who is incredibly well known in the data engineering space through his YouTube content and DataExpert.io. It was great to connect with someone who has had such a big impact on how data engineers learn and grow.

Exploring the Expo

I spent time visiting several partner booths, understanding their offerings, and discussing the latest releases from this year's Summit. The breadth of innovation across the ecosystem is staggering.

Reflecting on Day 2

Day 2 reminded me why I love being part of this community. From Ali's vision of context-driven AI, to Mandy recognizing me at the booth, to seeing my own app used to demonstrate Free Edition capabilities, to meeting leaders and builders who are shaping the future of Data + AI, this was a day I will remember for a long time.

The journey from a Databricks official Reddit post to the Summit floor has been incredible. And it is all thanks to this community.

Grateful for this community and excited for what comes next.

Before the doors opened.

Day 0 of DAIS 2026 started long before any badges were scanned. Here's a behind-the-scenes look at how the Community booth came together — from the curb to the floor.

01 · Arrival

First look at Moscone West.

Walking in, the building was already wearing its DAIS jersey — the red banner, the Databricks logo on the glass, the “Built For Data” signage on the doors. The week officially started here.

02 · Unboxing

And then the boxes.

Setup doesn't happen by magic. Carts in, cardboard out, people pointing at signage trying to figure out which way is up. The part of the show no one usually sees — and the part that makes everything else possible.

Up to Level 2, near the escalators, and there it was. The Learning Hub banner already in place, tables being arranged, screens warming up. Big shout-out to the team who got everything in place — Day 1 ran because Day 0 happened first.

By the time the doors opened, the Community booth was up and ready. The wall went up, the chairs lined up, screens running — and the line we live by, “Data Is Better With Friends”, front and center. That's the whole point of the booth, after all.

A Reddit Post That Turned Into Real Databricks Summit 2026 Conversations

A few weeks ago, I shared Grocery Data Intelligence, a Data + AI app I built on Databricks Free Edition that helps grocery stores reduce stockouts, cut waste, and turn inventory data into daily actions, on r/databricks.

The goal was simple: help grocery stores reduce stockouts, reduce food waste, and make better daily inventory decisions.

The app uses a Bronze to Silver to Gold lakehouse pipeline, with an AI reasoning layer that suggests actions like reorder, discount, promote, or donate.

When I shared it, I was mainly hoping to get some honest feedback from the community.

That feedback helped me improve the app in a very practical way.

Denny Lee was one of the first people to respond. He appreciated the idea of connecting data and AI to build something actionable. He also gave useful feedback on the action flow and suggested that I document the architecture more clearly so others could understand and review it.

I made those changes the same day.

Then Youssef Mrini shared his thoughts. He appreciated how the app used Databricks Free Edition and Genie Code, and suggested exploring Lakebase for faster dashboard rendering and the Semantic Layer for a better natural language query experience.

That helped me rethink the read path and the Ask Data experience.

Sunmin Lee also reviewed the app and gave very helpful product feedback. She suggested simplifying the experience around fewer, stronger user journeys and creating a separate architecture page.

That feedback helped me restructure the app around three main flows:

Dashboard for visibility
Ask Data + AI for insights
Action Center for decisions

Another community member, datainthesun, also suggested using UC Metric Views to centralize business logic, which I added to the design.

Each round of feedback made the app a little clearer and more Databricks-native.

The post reached more people than I expected, including readers from the United States, India, the United Kingdom, and other countries. But the most valuable part was not the views. It was the quality of the feedback and the willingness of people to help.

Then came Data + AI Summit 2026 in San Francisco.

I had the chance to meet some of the same people who had helped me online.

"I met Denny Lee right after a DevConnect session at Summit. We talked about the app, context-aware AI, and what builders in the community are creating.

I also met Youssef Mrini on the Dev Connect conference floor and we connected in person after the Reddit discussion.

I also had the opportunity to meet Jonathan Frankle, Chief AI Scientist at Databricks, known for his groundbreaking Hypothesis research at MIT. Connecting with someone leading AI research at Databricks was a meaningful moment for me as someone building in the Data + AI space.

This experience reminded me why community matters.

A community is not only a place to ask questions. It is also a place to share what you are building, receive honest feedback, improve your work, and learn from people with real experience.

For me, this started as a small Reddit post. It became a better architecture, a better app, and a few meaningful conversations at Summit.
