Announcement | Introducing OfficeQA Pro V2: Grounded-Reasoning Benchmark for Enterprise Data

Databricks has released OfficeQA Pro V2, a new benchmark for testing how well AI agents answer complex questions using evidence from large, unfamiliar document collections. Built from more than 1,400 U.S. Treasury PDFs spanning 1793–2024, the benchmark is designed to measure grounded reasoning in enterprise-style tasks, not just general question answering.

Key highlights

A demanding new benchmark: OfficeQA Pro V2 includes 90 questions over roughly 120,000 pages, with a median of 5.5 source documents per question. Many questions require retrieval, calculations, changing reporting conventions, and careful use of evidence.
Built to test generalization: The benchmark uses a new corpus so teams can evaluate whether improvements carry over to unfamiliar documents and tasks, rather than optimizing for one known dataset.
Created with synthetic data and verification: Databricks used a synthetic-data pipeline with automated checks, independent solver agents, and human review to create questions with traceable answers.
Agent harnesses matter: In Databricks’ evaluation, out-of-the-box agents averaged 26% accuracy, while Genie improved results by an average of 24 percentage points across matched model comparisons, reaching up to 60% accuracy in the strongest configuration.
Still a hard problem: The results show meaningful progress, but also continued challenges with document parsing, retrieval, historical revisions, and analytical reasoning.

OfficeQA Pro V2 is now available on Hugging Face, with evaluation code available on GitHub. Teams can use it to compare models and agent architectures, identify where failures occur, and measure how changes affect accuracy, cost, and latency before applying them to their own enterprise data.

Databricks is bringing Genie One to native iOS and Android apps, giving business users access to governed data, dashboards, and apps wherever work happens. Genie One on mobile is currently available in Public Preview.

What’s new

Ask questions on the go – Chat with Genie in natural language and get answers grounded in your organization’s data, business logic, and permissions.
Explore dashboards from your phone – AI/BI dashboards adapt to smaller screens, with widgets reflowing into a mobile-friendly layout.
Access apps and take action – Discover Databricks Apps and use Genie’s conversational capabilities without waiting to get back to a laptop.
Use the same trusted context – Genie One can draw on governed Databricks data and connected enterprise sources, while respecting the permissions attached to each source.
Keep existing security controls – The mobile app uses the same sign-in flow as the web experience, including SSO, MFA, and existing identity-provider policies. Unity Catalog permissions, row- and column-level security, and workspace access controls still apply.
No separate mobile data plane – The app connects to the same Databricks account and workspace URLs as the browser, so existing network controls such as IP access lists, VPN, and Private Link continue to apply.

The main idea is simple: business users should not have to wait until they are back at their desks to ask a question, check a KPI, or explore an insight. Genie One brings the same governed data and business context to the phone, while keeping access and security aligned with the web experience.

Announcement | How Databricks manages its own coding agent spend with Unity AI Gateway Budgets

Databricks is sharing how its engineering teams use Unity AI Gateway to manage coding-agent spend across tools and models. By routing agent traffic through one control point, teams can combine centralized budgets, unified usage visibility, and flexible policies without managing each coding agent separately.

What’s new

One gateway for every coding agent: Route tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and others through Unity AI Gateway to apply consistent spend and access policies across models and tools.
Separate daily and monthly controls: Use a smaller daily limit to catch sudden or accidental spend, and a higher monthly limit for planned project work. These limits address different kinds of waste and should not be treated as one budget.
Self-service for normal usage: When engineers reach a daily threshold, they can acknowledge that the spend is intentional and continue without waiting for a ticket or approval.
Time-limited exceptions: Higher monthly limits can be approved for specific projects and set to expire, so temporary needs do not become permanent entitlements.
Unified observability: Because usage is routed through Unity AI Gateway, teams can monitor spend and activity across coding tools in one place and use the data to refine policies and model choices.

The post also explains why a single monthly limit created unnecessary friction: it had to catch both short-term runaway spend and legitimate, sustained project usage. Splitting those jobs into separate daily and monthly controls gives engineers more room to use AI while keeping unusual spend visible and bounded.
