Hi Databricks Team,

I am not able to log in to my Databricks free edition account. I tried clearing my cache and logging in from incognito mode but I face the same error (screengrab attached) with Reference ID: d5284105-10d1-4b2f-88df-436ffd3efb72

I want to add context: I had an Azure free trial using the same email I use to log into Databricks free edition. I created a small Databricks project for my learning in this free subscription using the Azure Databricks service. The Azure subscription expired on 8th August 2026 and I have since deleted my Azure Subscription associated with this free account.

I raised a ticket with Databricks Support for this issue on August 5th and got a reference number - ref:!00D610JGc4.!500Vp0158S5Q:ref.However, even after following up, I still haven't received a response

I recently passed the Databricks Data Engineer Associate exam and wish to take the Databricks Data Engineer Professional and Context Engineer exams.
Kindly help me resolve this issue as I would like to access Databricks using the free edition for hands on practice.

Regards,

Databricks' current documentation treats Free Edition and the Azure/cloud-provider-based trial as separate offerings, so the important issue is likely how your email is currently associated in Databricks' identity/account system. check the documentation here.

What I think may be happening

Your sequence is:

You originally used the email for an Azure Databricks environment.

That Azure subscription expired on August 8, 2026.

You subsequently deleted the Azure subscription.

You are now trying to use Databricks Free Edition with the same email address.

You cannot log in even after cache clearing/incognito.

You already opened a support case on August 5.

The key point is that deleting the Azure subscription does not necessarily mean Databricks has removed/de-associated the Databricks identity/account that was connected to that environment. Databricks also explicitly says that cancelling a Databricks plan is different from deleting the Databricks account, and account deletion is something that has to be handled separately. Databricks documentation.

Also, Free Edition authentication is currently limited to email OTP, Google sign-in, or Microsoft sign-in, so it is worth being very explicit about which method you're using. Details here in documentation.

Hi @snehamore811 ,
Thanks for response.
I have used both Google sign-in and email OTP and face the same issue.
I think you are right in saying that databricks might not have de-associated my account after the azure subscription deletion as I get the below options while signing in and it shows a residual work account with azure that might be the one associated with the deleted subscription.

But when trying to sign in using "Create a new account", I get the same error as mentioned in my original message.
What should I do to get this residual account deleted from Databricks identity/account?

Thanks

The most likely issue is a Databricks-side identity/account association, not your Google/OTP authentication. Databricks documents that user identities are represented by email addresses and can exist at the account/workspace level check here
