Agile and Databricks

I originally wanted to publish this as a LinkedIn article.

But as many of you know, the LinkedIn engine doesn’t really promote long-form articles anymore, so I turned it into a post instead.

As we mark 25 years of the Agile Manifesto, I’ve been reflecting on how relevant Agile still is in modern Databricks delivery.

In data platforms, agility isn’t about stand-ups or Jira boards.

It’s about:

Iterative Bronze → Silver → Gold evolution
Delivering thin slices of business value
Continuous optimisation and refactoring
Reducing operational risk incrementally
Treating data platforms as living systems

The Lakehouse model is inherently Agile: incremental, observable, testable, adaptable.

I also share a personal perspective as a PSM III holder (a certification achieved by very few globally). The most common question I get is “How did you achieve it?”

My answer is simple:

Be technical. Understand the system.

Servant leadership is not passive. It means providing technical clarity, direction, and raising the bar when needed.

And just a reminder:

The Scrum Master was never intended to become a detached job description.
