Databricks Free Edition runs on Serverless compute, which is:

  • Automatically managed by Databricks
  • Does not expose cluster controls like traditional environments
  • You will not see the "Compute" tab or be able to attach or manage clusters manually

In Free/Serverless editions:

  • You cannot use /dbfs/... or /mnt/... paths like in full-featured workspaces
  • File paths come through Volumes or Workspace uploads
