Discounted pricing for Databricks DBU is available when you commit to usage for 1 or 3 years—a model called Databricks Commit Units (DBCUs). Discounts can reach up to 37% off pay-as-you-go rates depending on your commitment.

DBU Discounted Rates by Compute Type

Compute Type Premium Tier DBU Rate Typical Discounted Rate (with commitment)
All-Purpose Compute $0.55/DBU-hour As low as ~$0.35/DBU-hour
Jobs Compute $0.30/DBU-hour As low as ~$0.19/DBU-hour
Jobs Light Compute $0.22/DBU-hour Not always discounted further
SQL Pro Compute $0.55/DBU-hour As low as ~$0.35/DBU-hour
Serverless SQL $0.70/DBU-hour As low as ~$0.44/DBU-hour

Discount rates may vary by cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP), contract structure, and region.

Free Trial and Contract Pricing

  • Databricks offers a 14-day free trial, during which you pay only for underlying cloud infrastructure, not Databricks services directly.

  • Contracted pricing (DBCUs) requires direct agreement with Databricks or your cloud provider.

Notes and Recommendations

  • Committed use plans lower costs substantially for steady workloads and require upfront financial commitment.

  • For scheduled workloads, switching from All-Purpose to Jobs Compute offers significant savings.

  • It's crucial to optimize clusters and leverage spot instances when possible for best savings.

Always confirm pricing and discounts directly with Databricks or your cloud provider, as rates may vary based on your specific contract, region, and usage profilele.

Whether can I able to get the contracted amount in the system.billing.list_prices table or any other?
