Azure Purview and Unity Catalog serve different but complementary purposes in the realm of data governance and management.
Azure Purview:
- Azure Purview is a comprehensive data governance solution from Microsoft, designed to help organizations manage and govern their data across various environments, including on-premises, multi-cloud, and SaaS applications.
- It is based on Apache Atlas.
- Purview provides capabilities such as automated data discovery, data classification, and the creation of a unified data map.
Unity Catalog:
- Unity Catalog is Databricks solution for data governance and access management within the Databricks Lakehouse platform.
- It is designed to manage table access control lists (ACLs), attribute-based access control, and provide a unified governance solution for data and AI workloads on Databricks.
- Unity Catalog is the default and best way to manage governance and data access/permissions within Databricks workspaces.

Hi @zmsoft ,
I found this blog https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-use-databricks-unity-catalog-microsoft-purview-data-governance-xe... comprehensively listing the features of both the products.
To be honest, these two products can go hand in hand and integrate well, it depends on the use case you are trying to resolve on what may be best suited.
Thanks!
