Hi @abhishek2k11,
Could you please respond to my previous question? Has this issue only started in the past few days, or have you not accessed this account for a long time? Also, have you tried creating or signing up for a new account, or contacted the support team as suggested?
In the free edition, Databricks enforces a Single workspace limit , which means you can’t create additional workspaces yourself. If the previous workspace was deleted, there may be a cool‑down/residual state where the UI doesn’t allow a new one until the backend fully clears it.
Here are some steps you can try in the meantime.
- In the Account Console, check Usage --> Workspaces or Billing to see if another workspace is listed or has usage.
- Try switching region (if the account supports multiple regions) to see if a workspace exists there.
- If you truly have none and it’s still greyed out, this is almost always an account-plan limit. In that case, Open a Databricks support ticket and ask something like "Free edition account, ‘Create workspace’ is disabled even though I see 0 workspaces. Can you confirm if there’s an existing workspace in another region or clear my quota / enable creation?”
Hope this helps.
If this answer resolves your question, could you mark it as “Accept as Solution”? That helps other users quickly find the correct fix.
