Which Associate exam are you going for? (Data Engineer, Data Analyst, ML or Spark Developer.) The prep differs a bit between them, but the core approach is the same:

1. Download the exam guide PDF from the certification page for your exam. The section weightings are your syllabus, so spend your time in proportion to them.
2. Do the matching free self-paced course on Databricks Academy.
3. Practise hands-on in Databricks Free Edition, which replaced the old Community Edition. The practical questions are where most people slip up, so actually run things in a workspace.
4. Take the official practice exam early to find your weak areas, then again before you book.

With some SQL background, 4 to 6 weeks part-time is realistic for the Data Engineer Associate. Let us know which exam you're targeting and we can point you at more specific resources.
