or Databricks only charges you whenever you are actually running the cluster, no matter how long you keep the cluster idle?

Hi @andrew liβ If the cluster is on you will be changed even if it's idle or running jobs.

@andrew liβ Databricks clusters are billed based on "VM cost + DBU cost" and not based on runtime for the Spark application. So in your case, yes you will be charged. Better enable the "Automatic termination" functionality to avoid costs.

and if you stop those cluster, and do nothing with your workspace, you will also get billed for your AWS or GCP infra that you created in your cloud account for using databricks

If you not congifure your cluster auto terminate after period of idle time, yes you will be charged for that.
