Dashboard sharing settings

When attempting to change sharing settings of published dashboards from Only people with access can view to anyone in my account can view or vice versa we get a "Failed to change permissions on dashboard..." error. This happens for all dashboards, both existing ones and any newly created ones. It also occurs in all workspaces across the account. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi @AndyRoyle,

Thanks for raising this. This doesn't look like expected behaviour.

We're seeing similar reports from others, so this appears to be a broader issue rather than something isolated to a single dashboard or workspace. The documented behaviour is that published dashboards should support changing sharing settings, including toggling access, such as "Anyone in my account can view," so this does look like a regression.

I've raised this internally for investigation. In the meantime, if you're able to share the account ID, workspace IDs, and a screenshot or the full error text, that would help with triage. Please DM those details if you are comfortable sharing. Alternatively, you can also raise a support ticket.

I would add that when we change the setting, the error is displayed immediately and there is no network traffic being displayed when using developer tools in browser

Hi @AndyRoyle

Anyone in my account can view the scope, which is gated by a workspace setting. That sharing level isn't always available. Check Settings -> Security -> Sharing (or with a workspace admin) that account-level dashboard sharing is actually enabled. If the org has locked sharing down to "only people with access," the UI will reject the change. Since this reproduces on every dashboard across every workspace, an account/workspace-level policy is a strong candidate; that's exactly the footprint you'd expect from a global setting, not a per-dashboard glitch.

Check your own permission level. To change the sharing scope (not just add individual grants), you generally need to be the dashboard owner or have CAN MANAGE. Confirm you hold that on the dashboards you're testing.

Thanks for responding. Anyone who has tried to change has CAN MANAGE on the dashboard. Within the workspace admin settings there is no section related to sharing within Security (or anywhere else)
