Regression: Dashboard slicer paste now commits invalid filter values instead of searching

Hi Team,

We appear to be experiencing a recent regression in the AI/BI dashboard filter slicer behaviour.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a dashboard containing a single-select or multi-select filter slicer.

  2. Click into the slicerโ€™s text input.

  3. Paste text from the clipboard that is a partial match of a valid option value.

Previous / expected behaviour
The pasted text is treated as a search term, and the slicer filters its available options to those containing the pasted text.

Current behaviour
The pasted text is immediately treated as a committed filter selection, even when it does not exactly match a valid option value. As a result, the slicer applies an invalid filter value and the dashboard returns no results.

Impact

  • Breaks a common and efficient user workflow (paste โ†’ refine โ†’ select).

  • Causes dashboards to render empty results with no indication that the filter value is invalid.

  • Particularly disruptive for multi-select slicers and long enumerated value lists.

We have not found this change documented in recent AI/BI dashboard release notes and believe this may be an unintended behavioural change rather than a deliberate UX decision.

Could you please confirm:

  • Whether this behaviour change is intentional or a regression

  • If intentional, whether there is a configuration or setting to restore the previous search-on-paste behaviour

  • If a fix is planned, whether it is already tracked internally

Please let me know if I can provide additional information.

Kind regards,
Tim Frazer

Hi Tim, I can't find any mention of this internally. But I suspect it will be related to this change

  • Multi-select filter paste: Viewers can now copy a column of values from a spreadsheet and paste them into a multi-select filter.

My recommendation would be to raise a support ticket, although I think it may now be expected behaviour, given I'm not sure the prior behaviour would work very well with the new multi filter paste.  I hope this helps
