Thanks for raising this. Yes, I've seen similar reports from others as well.
A few people have run into notebook slowness/browser memory pressure when Genie Code is open, including lag while typing and generally poorer performance in the inline experience. The most reliable workaround Iโve seen so far is exactly what you described. Use the Genie Code side panel/Agent mode or have it work in a notebook rather than relying on the inline in-cell flow. Internally, the inline experience is still being unified with the more capable side-panel agent, and even the docs note (see the snapshot below) that performance can be better in the pane than in a notebook cell.

It would also be useful to know whether youโre on Free Edition or a paid workspace, just in case what youโre seeing is related to workspace limits or entitlement differences rather than the inline UX itself.
