I was able to resolve this issue. The requirements for dbdemos were not satisfied. I didn't have permission to create the cluster.

dbdemos requires the current user to have:

  • Cluster creation permission
  • DLT Pipeline creation permission
  • DBSQL dashboard & query creation permission
  • For UC demos: Unity Catalog metastore must be available (demo will be installed but won't work)

Hey @Kushal_Nagrani , thank you for sharing this. I am facing the same issue. Could you please help me where can I find these settings? I am new, just created a community workspace and I thought given I am the admin I will have all these by default - but this is not the case and I can't find anything related on the user settings page.

Hi. @sidosq ,

You can find these settings in the top right corner. You have to be the admin and make sure that you are using Databricks LTS version 14.2 +
