Disable Lakebase and Model Serving (Foundation Models) at Account and/or Workspace level

 Hello Databricks Support Team,

we would like to understand whether it is possible to disable specific Databricks product capabilities in our environment, both at Account level and at Workspace level.

1) Lakebase

We would like to confirm if Databricks Lakebase can be disabled:

  • at the Databricks Account level (so it is not available in any workspace), and/or
  • at the Workspace level

If a full disablement is not supported, please confirm whether it is possible to:

    • prevent users from provisioning/creating Lakebase resources,
    • hide Lakebase from the UI (Apps section),
    • restrict Lakebase usage via permissions, enforce this via Terraform / account settings.

2) Model Serving / Serving Endpoints (Foundation Models)

We would also like to disable Model Serving capabilities, in particular the ability to use Databricks-hosted foundation model endpoints.

In the โ€œServing Endpointsโ€ section we can see endpoints such as:

  • databricks-claude-*
  • databricks-gpt-*
  • databricks-gemini-*

We would like to confirm whether it is possible to:

  • disable Model Serving entirely at Account and/or Workspace level,
  • disable or block only the Databricks-provided foundation model endpoints,
  • prevent users from creating new serving endpoints,
  • restrict access via entitlements / permissions / policies,
  • enforce the restriction via Terraform or centralized admin settings.

3) โ€œEnable partner-powered AI featuresโ€ and Genie

In the Admin Console, we see the setting โ€œEnable partner-powered AI featuresโ€.

For confirmation, could you please clarify whether disabling this setting fully disables Databricks Genie?
If Genie is not fully disabled by this setting, can you please confirm what is the correct way to disable Genie?

Thanks you.

Best Regards,

Alessandro

I think you might want to reach out to the support team using this link -

The post here would be typically answered by the community and support team might not see it .

To disable at account level .

Turn Lakebase off for all workspaces from the Account Console > Previews. This removes Lakebase availability across the account and prevents users from creating Lakebase resources in any workspace. You can follow the steps listed here manage account level previews

To turn off at the workspace level use the steps listed here - manage workspace-level previews

I am not understanding exactly what I have to disable in Account Console > Previews. I see things like Attribute Based Access Control, Budget Policy, Governed Tags, Immutable external groups and Sharing To Iceberg Clients. There should be something exactly for Lakebase?

In the workspace level previews I can see Lakebase Postgres as Generally available features, so without a switch on-off button
