Hello @JoaoPigozzo , I took a look at both internal and external documentation and here is what I found.
There's no separate enablement toggle for overrides. What the docs describe is a prerequisite, and it's easy to miss. The Add override control lives inside the Per-user thresholds section and only appears after you've added a default per-user threshold. That's by design: an override replaces the default per-user limit for a specific user or group, so there's nothing to override until a default exists. If you've only set a Shared threshold so far, that's almost certainly the cause. Add a per-user threshold first (even a placeholder amount) and the override option should follow.
If that doesn't do it, run through these:
- You're in the account console (Usage, then Budgets) as an account admin, not in workspace admin settings.
- Resource type is exactly Unity Gateway and nothing else. Per-user thresholds and overrides are only offered for budgets scoped to Unity Gateway.
- The only resource tag is
databricks-product: genie. Extra tags aren't supported on Genie budgets and break tracking.
- Unity Gateway is enabled for your account.
- You haven't hit the cap of 20 overrides per budget.
Two behaviors to keep in mind once it appears: an override raises the individual limit only and never lets a user spend past an exhausted shared threshold, and a user in multiple groups gets the most permissive override within a budget but the most restrictive limit across budgets, if you have more than one scoped to Genie.
If everything above checks out and Add override is still missing, it may be a UI or rollout issue on your account. Open a Databricks Support case with a screenshot and the non-sensitive budget config details rather than posting account identifiers here. Happy to dig further if you reply with what sections and buttons you do see on the form.
