Community Fellows Roundup: January 2026

The Community Fellows program is a cohort of Bricksters who love helping customers learn. They help out in the forums and provide top quality answers to all Databricks enthusiasts!

January Numbers Because We Love Data

  • 126 answers by Fellows in January, up from 102 in December. 🌼
  • Fellows published 3 articles in the Community, and did 27 content shares on social media.
  • Still chasing our legend: 353 answers in November 2025. The month of myth, the month of glory we shall continue to chase as our quest as a knight chases a dragon!! 🐉
  • We have 56 total Fellows, and at any given time about 50% are active. At this activity level, Bricksters answer about 25% of forum questions. Our goal is 50%, which means we need roughly 2× the Brickster output, either by activating more of the current crew or by growing the program. Let’s do it, Bricksters. Let your customer obsession shine!!

January Leaderboard: Heavy Hitters

Going strong like DONKEY KONG!! Great to see Louis at the top - can anyone topple him from his throne? Love having our longtime friend @MoJaMa  on the board, with @AbhaySingh  and @stbjelcevic  solidly in the top, while newcomer@iyashk-DB is climbing the charts like an Olympian!

Hall of Fame Spotlights: Emma, Mohan, and G Yashwanth!

Huge congratulations to Emma Stowell @emma_s, who earned her Level 2 Fellows position in the Hall of Fame and received her official Fellows nickname: The Emmanator. Emma singlehandedly prevents car crashes and all sorts of transportation disasters all over Great Britain! Adjustable roadway signs? That's her! Trains on time? That's her!! I mean I suppose Databricks and her customers have something to do with it but I find it very impressive.

Shoutout to @MoJaMa and @iyashk-DB, who both unlocked the Level 1 badge and officially joined the Fellows Hall of Fame!! @MoJaMa  is a long time Community supporter who is now rising quickly in the Fellows charts, and we’re excited to find a new excellent Community friend in @iyashk-DB.

Recruiting Cool Bricksters

We added 8 new Fellows in January! Big thanks to our recruiters @emma_s@Louis_Frolio , and@MoJaMa  for bringing fresh new shining faces into the program and helping us grow the coolest club at Databricks!

Top 3 Answers of the Month: Bricksters Shining!

Genie’s Narrative Text Summary
A top shoutout goes to @stbjelcevic
for his deep dive on retrieving Genie’s narrative text summary (final_summary) via API. He followed up, cited internal resources, and stuck with it until the customer was fully unblocked. That is what “customer obsessed” looks like in the wild.

Dynamic Global Filters
In the “Dynamic Global Filters” thread, @davidmorton helped a community member building an AI/BI dashboard for business users think through how to design filters that behave consistently across views, without turning the dashboard into a brittle mess. The reply focused on clarifying the real requirement first, then laying out a clean path forward so the user could implement confidently.

Databricks Serverless Pipelines - Incremental Refresh Doubts
Ever wonder why a serverless pipeline chose incremental vs full recompute? @aleksandra_ch explains SDP’s decision-making and the key gotcha: the event-log “cost” value is legacy and not used. She also shares how to keep things incremental: split complex MVs, refresh more often, and enable deletion vectors + row-level tracking. Great follow up, clearly explained and great references!

We Need Bricksters!

If you are a Brickster, please consider joining the Fellows program to help customers get unstuck, increase happiness, and accelerate consumption while earning points, badges and rewards. Check out go/communityfellows for more.

To all the Fellows that participated in January: thank you!
