Can I use Databricks CLI with community edition?

al_joe

I installed the CLI but unable to configure it to connect to my instance -- as I am unable to find the "Generate Access tokens" option under User Settings page.

Documentation does not say whether this feature is disabled for community edition.

hi @Al Jo we understand your interest in learning Databricks. However, the community edition is limited in features. Certain features are available only in the paid version. If you are interested, to use the full features, then I would suggest you go with the full version. You can Sign up for a free trial account and try using the full features of Databricks for 14 days.

Hi @Al Jo , I believe the personal access token feature is not available for the community edition. It requires a premium plan or above. It is documented here:

https://docs.databricks.com/administration-guide/access-control/tokens.html#requirements

Thank you.

I am hoping to learn Databricks hands-on but cannot really sign up for a paid subscription for personal use.

I believe the one-time trial available has already run out some time ago.

are there any other means to get hands on experience with databricks.
