DATABRICKS CLEANROOMS

Hi Team,

I have a few questions regarding Databricks Cleanrooms:

  1. For onboarding first-party data, does the collaborator need a Databricks account with an enabled UC workspace?
  2. How is it useful for activating data for retargeting or prospecting use cases?
  3. For analytics, can analysts use queries and insights templates to generate insights by joining first-party data?
  4. Since Databricks Cleanroom is powered by Delta Sharing, does the data need to be in Delta format for sharing with collaborators? Can it also be in Parquet format, or does it strictly have to be Delta? Additionally, can the cloud region be any (AWS, Azure, GCP)?

Thank you!

For onboarding first-party data, the collaborator does need a Databricks account with an enabled Unity Catalog (UC) workspace. This is necessary to map system tables into its metastore and to observe non-UC governed assets.

Activating data for retargeting or prospecting use cases is useful because it allows you to focus on high propensity accounts, align use cases to Databricks Solution Accelerators, and prioritize accounts based on various factors such as industry, technical setup, and growth potential. This helps in making informed decisions and targeting the right audience effectively.

For analytics, analysts can indeed use queries and insights templates to generate insights by joining first-party data. This enables them to derive valuable insights and make data-driven decisions.

Since Databricks Cleanroom is powered by Delta Sharing, the data does need to be in Delta format for sharing with collaborators. However, it can also be in Parquet format. The cloud region can be any of the supported ones: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
