Genie Code CLI support

Hi team,

Currently the genie code is available only in the workspace UI. Do we have CLI capabilities for the genie code ? Or is it expected to come in the near future ? Please let me know your thoughts on this. Also, currently we have CLI support for the Genie space

Hi @Aakash001,

AS of now, Genie Code is documented as a workspace-native experience rather than a standalone CLI. The public docs describe it as being available in places like notebooks, the SQL editor, jobs, AI/BI dashboards, and the file editor through the Genie Code experience in the Databricks workspace, which you can see in the Use Genie Code and Get coding help from Genie Code documentation.

Would recommend monitoring AI/BI release notes for future announcements. You can also submit a feature request through your account team if you have a specific automation use case.

For Genie Spaces, there is already public CLI support through the Databricks CLI via the databricks genie command group, including commands for listing spaces, starting conversations, sending messages, and managing spaces.

If this answer resolves your question, could you mark it as โ€œAccept as Solutionโ€? That helps other users quickly find the correct fix.

Hi @Aakash001 ,

As of now you can only interact with genie code using UI. Probably they will add cli support in the future.

If my answer was helpful, please consider marking it as accepted solution.
