I entered my credit card details 4 daysa go but i cant get access to openAI or Opus models

Even via the play ground i get this error:

InternalError
{"error_code":"PERMISSION_DENIED","message":"PERMISSION_DENIED: The endpoint is temporarily disabled due to a Databricks-set rate limit of 0."}

It looks like most of the models are not activated for my workspaces in AWS. I dont find any setting to activate this .

This is probably related to the tier i am in  even when my credit card is valid

this is actually not great as this can lead to people defaulting to uses the hyperscaler model gardens instead. i will give it 4 extra days , if not then i will have to change the architecture of my project

ciao

Hey @mikelben !

According to an official resolution provided by a Databricks Employee on the community forums, this specific "Permission_Deneid" error occurs when you are in the free/trial phase.

The "rate limit of 0" is a backend restriction that typically triggers if your workspace is still flagged under a trial or free (often placed as TRIAL_VERIFIED), which limits high-demand premium models (like GPT-5.x and premium Claude variants). Even with a valid credit card on the account, the workspace itself may not have been fully converted yet.

To get this resolved before you consider changing your architecture, you have two direct paths forward:
  1. Contact Databricks Support / Sales: Reach out to them explicitly asking to have your AWS workspace converted and fully verified for premium hosted foundation models (moving it to the PAYABLE_VERIFIED tier). Once they lift the workspace-level restriction, the endpoint should begin working immediately without any configuration changes.
  2. Use Un-gated / Open-Source Models (Workaround): In the meantime, you can test your architecture using open-source models like Llama, which are not subject to this specific Databricks-imposed 0-rate-limit restriction.
For reference, you can view the official employee response on the Databricks Community Forum.

Let me know if this helps clear things up or if you need help with the next steps. Good luck!

thanks, i am working on a early stage project so i dont have that level of sales support. i will revert to vertex instead. issues like this tell me the account even when i am paying is limited, dont want to find more issues like that
