SAP HANA Smart Data Access to Databricks SQL Warehouse

ClaudiuSolar

Hi

I'm currently looking into connecting to the SQL Warehouse through SDA/SDI. Does anyone have any experience doing so and can share some takeaways on how to implement it. We want to expose the Databricks tables to SAP. We're already doing this by using an Azure SQL Server, and we would prefer to switch.

Our current plan is:

1. Install the simba adapter on the server

2. define odbc connection

3. use that to connect through SDI

Another option would be to use the SDI Camel JDBC Adapter.

SAP HANA SMART INTEGRATION

The official answer

Hey,

If you're exploring how to connect your SQL Warehouse to SAP or want to streamline the process of transferring data from SAP HANA into Databricks, our SAP HANA to Databricks Connector could be a valuable tool. This connector allows you to directly extract data from SAP HANA tables and load it iteratively into Databricks, making the integration smooth and efficient.

For those of you looking for insights on connecting Databricks tables to SAP, we can offer solutions to help. If you're already using an Azure SQL Server and considering switching, the process can be simplified using our connector. It facilitates an incremental data transfer, which can be especially helpful for managing large datasets without complex configurations.

To address some of the steps mentioned in your plan:

  1. Installing the Simba Adapter and defining the ODBC connection – our connector supports similar capabilities.
  2. Using SDI for integration – if you’re looking to expose Databricks tables to SAP through this method, the connector can help streamline the process.
  3. Exploring alternatives like the SDI Camel JDBC Adapter – while this is another option, we can help guide you through the most effective way to connect SAP HANA and Databricks.

For more details on implementation, please refer to our official documentation. If you have further questions or need support, feel free to reach out to us at info@dmesh.io. Or have a look at our official documentation.

I hope this helps with your integration journey!
