Hello Databricks Community!
I’m currently working from a processor laptop, specifically one with an Intel i7 processor. I’d love some advice on optimizing my setup, as I’m looking to balance efficiency with the constraints of a non-specialized machine.
Here’s my situation:
- I use my processor laptop for initial development, preferring to test smaller data transformations locally before scaling them up on cloud clusters.
- I’m concerned about resource management, especially as some tasks tend to overutilize CPU and RAM, impacting performance and battery life.
Some specific questions:
- Resource Allocation: How can I best allocate my laptop’s resources to minimize lag while running Databricks locally?
- Efficient Workflows: Are there any recommended practices for running light local tests before moving workflows to Databricks clusters?
- Cluster Suggestions: For data-heavy operations, is it more efficient to lean on Databricks cloud resources early on, or should I persist with local testing?
I appreciate any insights or strategies that could help streamline my experience. Thanks in advance for your guidance!
