Hi Team good day.
I'd like to check on the pattern where dashboards are developed in PowerBI Desktop which are then published to PowerBI Online, using data from Databricks on AWS.
In order to refresh the dashboards in PowerBI Online (whether on scheduled basis or via direct query), is an on-premise data gateway still required? Or which of the scenarios may require an on-premise data gateway?
Reason for asking is I understand that that the pattern of Redshift table data x PowerBI Online dashboard requires the on-premise data gateway (as documented here ) and would like to check if it applies to Databricks on AWS.
Thank you very much.

To refresh dashboards in PowerBI Online using data from Databricks on AWS, an on-premises data gateway is not required. This is different from the scenario with Redshift, where an on-premises data gateway is necessary.
For Databricks on AWS, you can connect Power BI Desktop to your Databricks clusters and Databricks SQL warehouses. Once the dashboards are developed in Power BI Desktop and published to Power BI Online, you can refresh the data either on a scheduled basis or via direct query without needing an on-premises data gateway.
