Not seeing color scale in Databricks table

brianz

Hi - I saw in this dbx post that there is color scale as a column display type. https://docs.databricks.com/aws/en/dashboards/manage/visualizations/tables

However I don't see color scale as an option on my dbx. I only see tables for Basic, Image, HTML, and JSONโ€”no Color scale. Could you let me know how I can get the color scale option here?

You can get the color scale only for Pivot tables that lets you add dimension fields to rows or columns to create cross tabulated views.

Hi @brianz,

@balajij8  is right. You can see from the docs that for table visualisations, the Display type list is Basic, Image, HTML, JSON (no Colour scale). For pivot tables, under Styles โ†’ Display type for fields added as Values, the options include Colour scale as well as Basic, Image, HTML, and JSON.

To access the Colour scale option, create or switch to a Pivot table visualisation on your query. Place the metric you want coloured into the Values section. Select that field, then go to the Styles tab. Under Display type, you should now see Colour scale.

If you stay on a plain Table visualisation, youโ€™ll only ever see the four types you listed.

If this answer resolves your question, could you mark it as โ€œAccept as Solutionโ€? That helps other users quickly find the correct fix.
