Intermittent PERMISSION_DENIED Error in Genie

Hello everyone,

We're experiencing an intermittent issue with our Genie implementation that started this afternoon after months of stable operation.

Error message:

"
We're sorry, but an unexpected internal error has occurred. Please try again in a few minutes. If the issue persists, please contact your Databricks account team.

Details:PERMISSION_DENIED: Your account is not enabled for cross-Geo processing. To use Genie please contact your account administrator. Code: 56.
"

Strange part is that this doesn't happen all the time. In some cases the same query will return the correct message / sql generation from genie whereas sometimes it will return this error message. We can't seem to spot any pattern in the responses.

We also have checked our azure settings (particularly around location / geo settings) and there has been no changes since this started happening earlier this afternoon.

Has anyone else encountered this error with Genie? Any insights on what might trigger this intermittently would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I am experiencing the same issue, I noticed it for the first time on Thursday 5th Feb. It is causing many Genie questions to fail, including around 50% of benchmark questions used to validate the workspace (particularly the more complex questions).

I would be very grateful for a solution to this problem soon.

Fortunately my product is in development and not live, but keen to understand the cause, as this would be problematic if impacting users.
