Hi Databricks community! Exciting news: we open-sourced PACE (Policy As Code Engine) and launched on Product Hunt, and we'd love your input!
PACE offers an abstraction on Unity Catalog data access policies, translating YAML/JSON policy definitions into dynamic views. It saves you the hassle of creating and managing SQL functions for row and column-level security, or writing complex and error-prone dynamic view SQL by hand.
With support for other platforms such as BigQuery and Snowflake, PACE provides a unified policy-as-code specification for developers, which can also serve as a (data) contract between various stakeholders in compliance, business and IT.
Do you think PACE could support your work in Databricks (and/or other platforms)? Why would you use it, or not?
We're looking forward to hearing your unique perspectives and ideas on how PACE can be integrated and utilized in different environments, and finding out what we’re missing to make it a no-brainer for you.
Thanks!
Ivan
