No Longer Getting the Option to Login to Databricks Legacy Community Edition

Carlton
Contributor II

Hello Support,

In the past, whenever I have logged in to access my Databricks Community Edition, I was given the option to log into the Legacy Edition or the Databricks Free Edition. However, now I'm forced to login to the Free Edition. Can someone let me know how to access the Legacy Edition as I still have all of Notebooks and training material in the Legacy Edition.

Thanks

Hi @Carlton ,

That's because they shutdown community edition at 1 January 2026. Now you can use Free Edition only (which is way superior).

Hi @szymon_dybczak , thanks for getting back to me. I totally agree that the Free Edition is way better. However, in the real world, (or at least in my real world) ! spin up Computer clusters. The only way to work with Compute Cluster in Azure is to use the 14 Day Trial, after which we are charged - even during the 14 day trial I am being charged for VMs and other services. As someone who is still training on Databricks this can become quite costly overtime. This was never the case with the traditional Community Edition. With the Free Edition we're limited to Serverless.

Please let me know if anything I have mentioned above is inaccurate
