Cannot enable GPU for serving endpoint

eduardo_guerra
Visitor

Good morning,

I want to create a serving endpoint with a GPU. However, I get a warning "GPU is not enabled for this workspace". Your AI chatbot is telling me I have to contact someone at Databricks. I tried this form - https://www.databricks.com/company/contact - but I did not get a response.

Could you help me ?

Best regards,
Eduardo Guerra

Hi @Ashwin_DSA

Thanks for the quick response.

Here is the information:

  • GCP cloud on europe-west3
  • We have the premium plan
  • We do not have a Databricks support contract. We used this form - https://www.databricks.com/company/contact - to contact sales to get a support contact, but after two days we still don't have a response.

I tried to submit a case, but it keeps pooping up a message saying "You currently do not have access to Help Center."

I appreciate all the help I can get.

Best regards,

Eduardo Guerra

Hi @eduardo_guerra,

Thanks for sharing all the details. After checking this page, I can see your workspace on GCP europe-west3 with the Premium plan, which is a region that generally supports GPU Model Serving. The reason youโ€™re seeing GPU is not enabled for this workspace is that GPU-backed Model Serving on GCP is still being rolled out in a controlled way. Individual workspaces are onboarded based on capacity and product rollout, rather than having GPU enabled by default for everyone. Thatโ€™s why thereโ€™s no switch in the UI you can flip yourself.

Because your account doesnโ€™t yet have a Databricks support contract, you used the Contact Databricks form correctly. Thatโ€™s the right path to (1) get in touch with Sales about a support-bearing subscription and (2) request GPU Model Serving enablement for your workspace. Initial responses to new sales/contact requests can typically take around 5 - 6 working days, so being two days in is still within the normal window.

Until the Sales/account team picks this up and completes that onboarding, you unfortunately wonโ€™t be able to create GPU serving endpoints in this workspace.

While I understand this doesn't resolve your issue, there is little we can do from the community side to help address it.

If this answer resolves your question, could you mark it as โ€œAccept as Solutionโ€? That helps other users quickly find the correct fix.

Hi @eduardo_guerra,

That message means GPU-backed Model Serving isnโ€™t enabled for your workspace, and that has to be adjusted by Databricks at the workspace/account level.

To help narrow things down, could you share:

  • Which cloud and region itโ€™s in (for example, AWS us-east-1 or Azure westeurope)
  • Whether this is a free/trial workspace or a paid one
  • Whether your organisation has a Databricks support contract

If your company does have a support contract, the fastest route is to open a case via your Databricks Support portal or from within the workspace UI (Help โ†’ Support), including the full error text and your workspace details.

Since youโ€™ve already used the public contact form, the Databricks team should get back to you through that channel... response times can vary a bit.

If this answer resolves your question, could you mark it as โ€œAccept as Solutionโ€? That helps other users quickly find the correct fix.
