A Brief Guide to My Databricks Solution Champion Experience
I wanted to give a quick guide to help others get ready for the Databricks Solution Architect Champion panel that I recently finished.
1. How to Organize Your Presentation
Keep your deck clear and concise:
-Introduction & Experience
-Your Databricks Journey
-Key Projects (at least 3) (problem → architecture → challenges → impact (cost and time))
-Your Contributions (PoCs, accreditations, blogs, accelerators)
2. Time Format
-50 minutes: Databricks Partner PowerPoint presentation
-10 minutes: discussion and Q&A
3. Technical Aspects to Emphasize
- Design your solution using "Medallion Architecture" (Lakehouse Architecture)
-Use "Unity Catalog" to demonstrate strong governance
-Cover the essential platform features:
- SQL Warehouse,
- DLT,
- Streaming,
- ETL,
- Security
4. Pay Attention to These Three Pillars:
Performance: scalability and optimization
Cost-effectiveness: autoscaling, tweaking, and DBU reduction
Governance: lineage, compliance, and RBAC/ABAC
5. Champion Attributes They Seek:
Thought leadership (blogs, workshops)
Databricks advocacy both inside and outside of your organization
Knowledge of the roadmap and new features
Real impact: customer projects, PoCs, and accelerators
Note:
Please remember that every candidate’s panel review experience can differ based on their projects, Databricks exposure, and presentation style. Use this guide as a reference, but prepare your content based on your own hands-on experience, solutions, and real project learnings.
Best of luck on your Databricks Solution Champion journey!
