SQL UDFs not visible in notebooks

We are using a serverless SQL warehouse and managed tables in unity catalog in Azure Databricks. 
When usind the designated catalog tab, I can see and filter for functions, but when I am developing in a notebook, there are only tables and views visible in the smaller catalog view to the side. 
More importantly, views and tables are expanded on hover, but functions are not. 
Is there some setting that can show our functions while developing notebooks?

Show Functions in Notebooks:

• While developing in a notebook, you can use the SHOW FUNCTIONS command to list available functions. This command provides a list of functions, whether they are user-defined or system-defined.

View Menu Options:

• In the Databricks notebook interface, there are different display options for notebooks. You can access these options from the View menu:
  • Standard view: Results are displayed immediately after code cells.
  • Results only: Only results are displayed.
  • Side-by-side: Code and results cells are displayed side by side.

Custom Functions:

• If you have custom functions written in Python or other languages, you can create a library notebook to store them. The library notebook contains the functions or classes (without runnable code).
• To import these functions into your main notebook, use the %run command.
