Why is exam security important?

Databricks Certification asks our exam takers to prep and act a certain way before and during remote-proctored exams. In many ways, it can seem strange what we ask of people. For example, we ask them to remove phones from their desks, to not read questions aloud, to not look off screen a lot, among other things. Why do we do this? Exam security.

Exam security is a set of approaches and actions in the certification industry to make sure that the exam content delivered to exam takers isn’t leaked and that some unscrupulous exam takers can’t cheat. So, some of the ways we ask you to prep your exam area or how to behave during test taking are part of our exam security plan.

By asking you to do these things, we’re actually protecting the value and prestige of the credential in which our exam takers invest their valuable time to achieve. Imagine if there was widespread cheating or leakage of our exam content. Then, people who really didn’t have the skill level would be awarded the credential. Not only is that unfair to people who honestly prepared for the exam, but it also damages the value of the credential because people would eventually see that unskilled exam takers who cheat are also able to achieve certification. And if a certification credential has little value in the industry, why would anyone work to get it?

So, Databricks Certification realizes that some of the things we ask of you when you take an exam can seem strange, but we ask you to help us to protect the value of what we and you are both trying to do: ensure that honest skill achievement is recognized and awarded.
